In January 2022, six months after the publication of the Pegasus Project, rights organization Front Line Defenders revealed the hacking of the phone of two female human rights defenders from Jordan and Bahrain using Pegasus. A couple of months later, Citizen Lab and Front Line Defenders found that the phones of four additional human rights activists, lawyers and journalists from Jordan had been infected with Pegasus between 2019 and 2021, likely by agencies of the Jordanian government.
